Boat Jumbles

Boat jumbles

If you love picking over other peoples’ cast-offs or delight in the thrill of tracking down a bargain, a boat jumble could just be your perfect day out. Pretty much a boat-themed car boot sale, a boat jumble gives buyers the chance to pick up all manner of equipment and accessories at a good price, while for sellers, they’re the ideal place in which all those unused ‘bits and bobs’ can be passed on to someone who might just getter better use of them.

If you’re a buyer, don’t be afraid to haggle, but do check the ‘use by’ date on any consumables you’re considering. Ask to see how things work if you’re not sure, and never be afraid to walk away… if Don’t glare at people, it puts them off.

On the seller’s side of things, do a bit of homework so you know what things are worth and, therefore, what your starting price should be. Don’t be afraid to turn down silly offers, and don’t make false claims about the items you’re selling. Honesty is always the best policy.

Events take place all over the UK but are often advertised only via social media; if you’re keen to find one near you, the Boat Jumble Association has a website that’s worth keeping an eye on.
