The Swan, Southwold

A much-loved Southwold landmark, set beside the town’s bustling marketplace, The Swan is more of an immersive experience than a hotel. Owned by the Adnams brewery business, the hotel has one of the most-photographed facades in town, behind which are elegant and contemporary, expertly-curated interiors.

The Swan dates from the 1600s, but there’s been brewing on site for at least 670 years and you’ll find references to brewing and distilling throughout the building. Each bright and colourful bedroom – those in the main house have four-poster beds – features a beautiful ‘Tall Boy’ cupboard that houses everything a guest could need, including a small bottle of Adnams! Downstairs, The Still Room restaurant is further influenced by Adnams’ Copper House Distillery, while oak floors and artefacts add interest to the pub-style Tap Room – a great place for a light bite or a long lunch.
